It’s a great idea to set up an auto-reply message that gets sent to anyone who decides to follow you on Twitter. Just to say hello, thanks for following me, stuff like that – certainly not to start trying to sell to people because that’s just plain annoying.
So, first things first I’ll state the obvious in that you have to have a Twitter account already. After that here are the rest of the steps:
1. Set your Twitter account to email you when you get new follows
- Go to Settings, Notifications, then check the box that says “Email Me When I’m followed by someone new”
2. Sign up for a free Social Oomph account https://www.socialoomph.com/
3. Hook up your Twitter account to your new Social Oomph account
- Go to Social Accounts, Add New Account, Add Twitter
4. In your new Social Oomph account create a Welcome message for all new follows
- Go to Social Accounts, Edit Welcome DM
5. If you want you can even set up a few different welcome messages to cycle through (the instructions are in Social Oomph where you set up the welcome message) – that way a random message will get sent each time keeping it fresh.
