Now that the cold weather has set in I’ve started thinking of ways to comfort myself.  One of my favourite ways is to eat something warm and tasty!

I have been recommending this recipe book to all of my friends and family for the past year and a half, and I’m so happy to have a platform with which to promote it even more. In my opinion, this is the best recipe book EVER:

Elegant & Inspired Vij’s Indian Cuisine by Vikram Vij & Meeru Dhalwala

Vij’s is a restaurant in Vancouver BC that I unfortunately have not had the pleasure of visiting yet. I have heard nothing but great reviews about the restaurant itself, and the recipe book has won several awards including the Canadian Culinary Book Award and the Cordon d’Or Gold Ribbon International Cookbook Award.

My mouth is watering just thinking about the recipes! I bought this book as a gift for my partner since he is the one who does most of the cooking, but really it was just a sneaky way for me to able to reap the benefits knowing that he was going to use the recipes. A very successful tactic!

The reason I knew he would use the book is that we had already tried one of the recipes after it was published in the Vancouver Province newspaper: Stewed Cinnamon-Scented Goat or Lamb Curry. We came across the recipe purely by chance, but it sounded so good we decided to try it out. Wow! A happy chance indeed! We’ve since used this recipe so many times I’ve lost count, and every variation has been delicious.

I don’t want to give too much away, and besides this book is so fantastic I think everyone should buy it, but keep an eye out for my next post where I will share the recipe that we discovered in the Vancouver Province…
