Creating a Custom 404 page
It’s always a good idea to create a custom 404 message so that if, heaven forbid, folks discover a broken page link on your website they’ll at least be taken to a helpful, and possibly fun and interesting, error page instead of the standard “this page doesn’t exist” nonsense.
What are you waiting for? It’s fun and super simple to do, there are loads of free plugins out there that make it easy to create a custom error page. I’ve used a plugin called 404 to 301 in the past and it was a cinch.

Is it possible to make a custom 404 page for every differen subject on the website?
Suppose I have a few categories on the site. Is it possible to send the surfer to the category I believe he would be interested in?

The 404 error can just be directed to just one place, but you could definitely include more than one category as links on the page. Or who knows, maybe there is a plugin out there that does exactly what you’re looking for? Might be worth researching…
